Now a days I have it figured out, I try to do do the bribing in between diplomacy rounds. I try to take it only if my faction is involved, so I still have to bribe one of the lords. Yes, but you get the best bang from that quest if you are a vassal of one of the sides, and get right to rule. Doesnt the quest specifically say that having them captured is a legit means to proceed with ending the war, so long as they cant interfere? Just to learn one was captured and he remained capured for the whole quest making it impossible. For example I was given a quest to convince two jarls to support peace.
